PRODUCT DETAILS
What's in the Box
- White shirt with ruffled neckpiece and attached black waistcoat (gold buttons and braiding)
- Black and white striped trousers with self-tie sash belt
- Red skull-and-crossbones headscarf
- Black boot covers
This Kids Caribbean Pirate Costume nails the high-seas buccaneer look — billowing white shirt with gathered sleeves, fitted black waistcoat with gold braiding, striped trousers and a red skull-and-crossbones headscarf. Comes as a ready-to-wear set, no hunting down bits the night before Book Week.
The waistcoat's permanently attached to the shirt so your kid gets the layered pirate look without fiddling with multiple tops. Gold buttons and braid detail down the front panels give it that Captain-of-the-ship polish, while the elasticated sleeve cuffs keep it comfortable for a full day's wear. Striped trousers have gathered hems that tuck neatly into the boot covers — slip those over their normal shoes and you're done.
Perfect For
Book Week & Literature Days: The go-to for Treasure Island's Long John Silver, Peter Pan's Captain Hook (add a toy hook hand), or any swashbuckling storybook pirate parade.
School Productions & Themed Days: Brilliant for nativity plays (innkeeper or travelling merchant), pirate-themed class concerts, Caribbean history projects, or Talk Like a Pirate Day at kindy.
Birthday Parties & Dress-Up: Works for pirate-themed birthday parties, Halloween trick-or-treating, or just backyard treasure-hunt adventures on a rainy afternoon.
How to Wear It
Pair with dark sneakers or boots (the boot covers slip over whatever they're already wearing). Add a toy cutlass and an eye patch for full Captain effect — skip modern watches or bracelets to keep the period look authentic.
Parent FAQs
What size should I order?
Check the size chart image on the product page — measure your child's chest and height, then pick the matching size. The waistcoat sits fitted through the torso while the shirt has elasticated sleeves, so there's a bit of flex either way.
Can they wear this over regular clothes for an indoor school day?
Yes — the shirt and trousers go on like normal clothes, and the boot covers slip over their existing shoes. Nothing bulky or scratchy, so comfortable for a full day at school.
How do I wash this? Is the fabric durable?
Hand wash in cold water or gentle machine cycle, then hang to dry. The gold braiding on the waistcoat is appliqué so keep it out of the dryer to avoid peeling. Fabric's hardwearing enough for multiple Book Weeks.
Is the sword included, or do we need to buy that separately?
The sword shown in the photos is a styling prop — costume includes the outfit, headscarf and boot covers only. Toy cutlasses are available separately in our Props section if you want to complete the look.
Care: Hand wash cold, hang dry, avoid dryer for gold trim.
